A new phase of Human Capital Development, HCD 2.0, has been introduced to accelerate well-coordinated and streamlined investment in people to promote equitable economic growth in Nigeria. In light of this, VIISAUS has partnered with HCD Nigeria to accelerate this programme.
The duo hosted focal persons, partners, and various stakeholders in Abuja for a Strategy Validation Stakeholders Engagement on July 4, 2024.
The event was attended by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia., who gave an opening speech the Acting Coordinator of HCD 2.0, Rukaiya El-Rufai, who emphasized in her opening remarks that the country’s ranking in the global Human Capital Development (HCD) index highlights the urgent need for action.
The event aimed to validate the HCD 2.0 strategy, secure stakeholder support, and gather input on specific aspects of the program. Our Managing Partner, Jiro Ejobe, presented the updated HCD 2.0 strategy and discussed the targets of the newly added theme of labor force and inclusion.
A highlight of the event was the breakout session, where participants had the opportunity to interact and discuss issues across various themes, including Data, Monitoring & Evaluation, facilitated by our Partner/Co-founder Tijani Nwadei; Advocacy, Policies, and Communication by Ehikpemokan Ero-Omoighe (Head, Corporate Communications VIISAUS); Gender & Environment by Chioma Obiokolo (Head, Technology Products & Consulting, VIISAUS); Governance & Operating Structures by Ikponmwosa Aikhionbare (Head, Socio-Political Advisory & Risk Management VIISAUS); Knowledge Sharing & Capability Building by Stella Obialor (Chief Operating Officer VIISAUS); and Funding and Resource Mobilization by Jemma Amachree-Broad (Strategy Consultant VIISAUS)
Panel discussions featured representatives from the Federal Ministry of Health, the Federal Ministry of Labour, the National Bureau of Statistics, and development partners from The World Bank, Aliko Dangote Foundation, ECOWAS Parliament, and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). They shared ideas on implementation strategies, ongoing support approaches, and areas of intervention for the HCD 2.0 program.
